4 Places Bed Bugs Hide, Besides Your Mattress

If bed bugs simply stuck to your bed, the problem would be a lot easier to control and a lot less widespread.

You have obviously heard about the dangers of bed bugs hitching a ride on fabric that often includes your bed, your clothing or your furniture. But they’re resourceful and adaptive enough to show up in all sorts of places.

Here are some unexpected places you may find them hiding, before you call an exterminator.

 

1. Alarm Clocks

This may be another good reason to switch over to using your phone as an alarm in the morning like so many other people.

Most alarm clocks are essentially hollow with the exception of a few wires, a circuit board, and some lights. This makes them the perfect place for bed bugs to hide out.

2. Electrical Outlets

You will want to unscrew your low light switch coverings and electrical socket covers to take a peek inside. Bed bugs are small enough that they can sneak in there.

Most exterminators are aware of this, but not many people are. So, be sure to check inside, and do so safely by killing the breaker or fuse.

3. Computer Keyboards

Do you have a desktop computer that is gathering dust since you upgraded to a laptop or a tablet? Look under the keyboard.

People have found bed bugs lurking under their keyboards, particularly ones that they haven’t used in a while.

They have also been found inside computers as well.

4. Picture Frames

These cases are rare, but there have been reports of people discovering bed bugs hiding inside of a picture frame.

People have also found bed bug eggs and feces in picture frames as well.
